Herzlich Willkommen!

Welcome to the Germans from Russia of Oregon and Washington (GROW) organization. Since GROW’s founding in 2001, our mission has been to collect, publish, and preserve our heritage as Germans from Russia, with a focus on those from the Black Sea region.
We actively support the involvement of our membership and youth who are interested in researching their genealogy. Now is the time to take advantage of all the new resources available to our generation not only in the form of books and maps we have at our disposal in our ever-expanding GROW library but also online. Our parent organization, GRHS, offers its members access to its extensive online research databases, including genealogical records and a letters archive.

Here are just a few of the many benefits you’ll enjoy when you join GROW:
  • Meet friendly “Leute” (people) also interested in the collection, publication, and preservation of our heritage as Germans from Russia.
  • Learn more about the Germans from Russia through educational presentations at chapter meetings.
  • Share and enjoy German-related folklore, information, stories, songs, literature, works of art, genealogies, photos, documents, and recipes with the support of local genealogists.

Welcome to the GROW community. For more information about who we are and what we do, please see our GROW brochure. You can also call Roger at 503-659-8248 or email him at To keep up with our latest activities and information, check out GROW's quarterly newsletters, which you'll find on our Newsletters & Meetings page. And be sure to check our Calendar for upcoming GROW events.
